Pensdown also takes care of DNO applications, planning conditions (where applicable), structural load analysis, and grid compliance, giving you a single point of contact from start to finish.
What’s included in a commercial solar PV installation?
A typical commercial Pensdown install includes:
• Site-specific design with accurate yield modelling and shading analysis
• Panel selection from trusted Tier 1 manufacturers with 25-year performance warranties
• Inverters, cabling, containment, switchgear integration, and surge protection
• Roof-mount, ground-mount or canopy system installation, including scaffolding and access
• DC & AC wiring, full commissioning, NICEIC certification, and O&M documentation
• Optional battery storage, export limitation, EV charge point integration, or BMS compatibility
• Full digital handover pack including schematics, test reports, manuals and warranty info
All work is carried out by our qualified team, with zero subcontracting and strict adherence to current IET Wiring Regulations, MCS standards, and best practice in commercial solar safety and performance.
Planning permission and compliance support
In most cases, commercial solar panel systems fall under permitted development. This depends on the site’s location, roof type, and local planning conditions. Pensdown will advise full planning permission is requirements. If so, we can manage the application on your behalf, including documentation for structural loads and system visibility.
Understanding system size, cost, and return.
No two systems are the same — but for typical commercial installations, we regularly design systems in the 25kW to 250kW range, depending on energy use, roof space, and budget.
We provide a detailed performance estimate and financial model as part of our proposal, including export values (if applicable), degradation rates, and estimated CO₂ savings. Where battery storage or load shifting is viable, we help you understand how best to use your system to reduce grid reliance and avoid peak tariffs.
Financing and funding
While many grants have closed, various commercial finance options are still available.
These include:
• Asset finance
• Power purchase agreements
• Energy leasing.
Pensdown can advise on the most appropriate option for your business based on cashflow, ownership preference and ROI timescales.
