21 / 05 / 2026
Pensdown, the electrical people, have been shortlisted for MEP Specialist of the Year at the Construction News Specialists Awards 2026, recognising the company’s commitment to innovation, technical excellence and integrated service delivery across the UK’s electrical, audio-visual and structured cabling sectors.
The Construction News Specialists Awards celebrate the very best specialist contractors and businesses operating across the UK construction industry, with the MEP Specialist of the Year category recognising leadership, quality and standout achievement within mechanical, electrical and plumbing services.
For Pensdown, the shortlist reflects a period of continued growth, innovation and project success, driven by its ability to deliver highly specialised electrical solutions while maintaining a streamlined, client-focused approach.
Known for its bespoke electrical, structured cabling, and audio-visual expertise, Pensdown has built a strong reputation for delivering integrated services in-house, from concept and design through to installation and completion. By operating as a single point of contact, the business simplifies complex project delivery, helping clients reduce risk, improve communication and maintain programme efficiency.
A key factor in Pensdown’s success has been its ability to think beyond conventional solutions and solve complex engineering challenges through practical innovation.
One standout example includes the development of a bespoke solar PV installation for a major blue-chip client in Lutterworth, where Pensdown designed and delivered an innovative ‘PV Pod’ solution to overcome restricted wall space for traditional infrastructure. Through full structural design and installation, the project enabled the integration of over 1,500 solar panels, helping support the client’s wider sustainability and energy reduction objectives.
Pensdown was also recognised for its creative technical problem-solving within a specialist laboratory lighting project, where the team transformed a minimal design brief into a highly complex bespoke lighting solution. Designed to replicate exterior lighting conditions within an internal testing laboratory, the scheme delivered significantly enhanced illumination levels, bespoke luminaires and layered control systems, balancing technical precision with strict health and safety considerations.
Unlike many contractors that rely heavily on subcontracted delivery, Pensdown’s in-house, multi-discipline expertise allows the business to remain agile, responsive and accountable throughout every stage of a project. This integrated approach continues to strengthen client relationships and has positioned Pensdown as a trusted delivery partner for businesses requiring specialist electrical and technical infrastructure solutions.
Phil Wiltshire, contracts manager at Pensdown, commented: "Being shortlisted for MEP Specialist of the Year is a fantastic achievement for the whole team. As a business, we pride ourselves on delivering high-quality specialist solutions while maintaining a practical, collaborative and client-focused approach. This recognition reflects the expertise, innovation and commitment our team brings to every project and we are incredibly proud to be recognised alongside some of the leading specialists in the industry."
The shortlist reinforces Pensdown’s growing reputation as a forward-thinking electrical specialist, combining innovation, technical capability and trusted service delivery to support increasingly complex client requirements across the built environment. The winners of the CN Specialists Awards 2026 will be announced later this year.
