Brightening offices with efficient LED Upgrade

The existing lighting system was inefficient and a prime candidate for an upgrade. Pensdown's solution - to remove the old, tired fixtures and replace them with modern, energy-saving LED alternatives - new fittings which could deliver DALI compatibility and seamlessly integrate into the building's existing lighting control system.

Pensdown prioritised minimal disruption throughout the project. Working closely with the client, they scheduled upgrades at times to minimise impact on office staff. Meeting rooms and workspaces were booked in advance, ensuring normal operations could continue as normal. The upgrade unfolded swiftly, one area at a time, with clear communication and safety measures in place.

The project presented several challenges. External lighting required groundwork support and Pensdown collaborated effectively with a specialist contractor to manage the process. Water-damaged cabling associated with bollard fittings presented another obstacle, which was remedied by replacing the damaged cables, ensuring safety and long-term functionality.

Delivering the highest levels of safety was paramount throughout the project. High-traffic areas, like corridors and pathways were programmed for after-hours upgrades to minimise disruption and ensure the safety of pedestrians. All work areas were secured with safety barriers, constantly monitored by engineers to prevent any incidents.

Equally as important, Pensdown's commitment to sustainability extended beyond energy efficiency. All removed materials, packaging and old fittings were carefully sorted for proper disposal and recycling. Following the completion of the upgrades, lighting engineers programmed the controls, ensuring all new fittings functioned as designed.

Pensdown's successful LED upgrade transformed the aesthetics and the new lighting system not only illuminates the workspace and corridors more effectively, but also delivers significant energy savings, helping to reduce the building's environmental footprint.
